Millions of Americans suffer from fecal incontinence (FI). FI is the inability to control or delay a bowel movement. Those suffering from FI have to plan their activities around the closest bathroom and cannot leave the house without a change of clothes.
It is normal for patients suffering with FI to feel hopeless and often the physiological symptom will turn into mental health issue such as depression and social isolation. Those suffering from FI do not need to live in fear and ProCon2 is here to help. ProCon2 will give people their freedom back and will enable those suffering to live life on their own terms.
ProCon2 is a medical device for controlling embarrassing unscheduled bowel movements. The device is a single use catheter with an inflatable balloon cuff intended to act as a barrier to the passage of fecal matter through the rectum. To insert the device, all you need is a pair of blunt nose scissors, a small container of mild temperature water and a water base lubricant such as aloe vera gel.
The device is inserted standing with knees slightly bent or sitting on the toilet or lying down. One should lightly lubricate the anal opening to the rectum and moisten the catheter tip with water to achieve easy insertion. Grasp the catheter just below the balloon at approximately 3 inches from the insertion top. Gain comfortable access to the anal opening and gently push the tip into the anus. Insert to a depth of 3 to 4 inches or as recommended by your physician. Once the device is inserted, one may stand to complete the remaining steps. Utilizing a small container of water, draw the syringe plunger out to a measurement of 25 to 30 cc of water and connect the syringe to the blue inflation check valve. Depress the syringe plunger slowly and firmly until the entire amount of pre-filled liquid is injected into the catheter. Gently pull the catheter tube to seat the balloon against the sphincter muscle at the anal opening and adjust until comfortable.
After installing ProCon2, bring the excess catheter tubing forward between the legs and place under the elastic band of your undergarment to keep it secure. Congratulations, the freedom is yours!
