Does Medicare cover incontinence supplies and adult diapers? Fact: Medicare does not cover incontinence supplies and adult diapers.
Despite the number of people living with incontinence, Medicare does not cover any supplies such as diapers, pads, and ProCon2. The bright side is, depending on your finances and the type of health insurance available in your state, you may have options. Many plans offer reimbursements and tax-deductible expenses.
Here are some example plans: Medicare Advantage Plan- Private insurance companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Health Care will supplement your incontinence supplies. However there is a limit on how much you can order so you need to speak with your provider
Medicaid- For those eligible for Medicaid, incontinence supplies are covered in most states.
Veterans Administration- Veterans who receive VA benefits are eligible for incontinence supplies. Veterans will have the choice at which brand they prefer.
Health Savings Account- If you aren't eligible for Medicare or Medicaid, the cost of incontinence supplies may be deductible with a health savings account. A Health Savings Account is typically part of a high-deductible health plan and is monitored by the Internal Revenue Service. One will provide receipts and then submit expenses for reimbursements.
Incontinent Control Devices is working on getting ProCon2 on as many insurance plans as possible.
